About the Episode
3 Installment of 3 part series on the 5 keys for effective organizing based on Black Liberation principles
"Organizing is both science and art" - Mariame Kaba, author: "We do this till we free us"
Given the turbulent times we find ourselves, many of us are looking for ways to translate our strong desire for justice into effective impactful action. We do that by organizing on multiple levels. On the Antiracism in Medicine Action Roundtable (weekly, Saturdays, 1pmET, Twitterspaces & Youtube Live), we discuss 5 keys to organizing effectively for change using the principles of Black radical tradition and the Black liberation and abolition movements. The 5 keys are:
1. Unlearn Internalized antiBlackness, white supremacy, and violence
2. Collective action and authentic relationship-building are key
3. Ground your work in history
4. Utilize the lens of intersectionality
5. Contextualize your organizing
The thread that runs through these principles is one of abundance, courage, creativity, imagination, and love.
