OBJECTIVES:


This webinar aims to equip college students with the knowledge and resources to effectively manage their mental health and academic success.


1. Identify common mental health challenges faced by college students

(depression, anxiety, ADHD, etc.) and their symptoms.

2. Recognize the impact of mental health on academic performance, social life, and overall well-being.

3. Develop strategies for managing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and ADHD in a college setting.

4. Practice skills that promote mental and emotional well-being.

5. Identify campus resources and support services available for students struggling with mental health issues.

Your Instructor

Maryam Abdallah, LCSW and Angelique Horace, LMSW

Maryam Abdallah’s passion rests in helping, encouraging and empowering individuals. Her life’s mantra comes from the words of Oprah Winfrey, “When we know better, we do better.” As a therapist, her goal is to share the tools and resources needed to change individuals for the better. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Master of Social Work both from Tennessee State University.


Maryam is a licensed clinician with 20+ years of experience, advocacy and leadership in the field of social work with training in child and family, adoptions, restorative and anti-oppressive practices, mental health, and the legal system. Her core therapy practice includes a focus on individuals, couples and families utilizing Dialectical Behavior, Solution Focused, and Trauma Informed Therapies. She specializes in the empowerment of Women and the LGBTQ Community through Narrative Therapy.


She is currently an Adjunct Professor for the University of Tennessee in the College of Social Work where she teaches Social Justice & Anti-Oppressive Practice. As the Founder and CEO of I Am Well Consulting, LLC, Maryam offers services that encourage mental wellness for professionals in the workspace. She also advocates for mental health access for all, particularly in BIPOC and LGBTQ communities through educational awareness and resources.


Maryam is a board member of Inclusion Tennessee, co-founding member of Chroma Mental Health Collective, ambassador for the Coalition of Black Social Workers and member of the Nashville NAACP Health Committee, Black Mental Health Village and Bordeaux Nashville Chamber of Commerce. Outside of her career, she enjoys live music, yoga and traveling with her wife and daughter.




Angelique Horace is a licensed Master Social worker with over a decade of client centered work and mental health counseling experience. With dual licensure in Alabama and Tennessee she currently works as a Staff Therapist at the University of Alabama and Contract Therapist with I Am Well Consulting. She is trained in EMDR, TFCBT, Written Exposure Therapy, and as a NOVA crisis responder.


She has worked in multiple client populations including MNPD- Family Intervention Program, DIDD, Youth Villages, and the Metro Nashville Office of Family Safety. She practices from a person-centered and trauma-informed approach. Cultural broaching is a major component of her work and creates a safe and inclusive therapeutic environment for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), LGBTQ+, Women, and marginalized individuals.
