Supporting Children in Uncertain Times: A Guide for Immigrant Families
Aleyda Sanchez, LPC/MHSP, received her Master’s in Counseling from Tennessee State University. She has worked for over 16 years in non-profit organizations and has been fortunate to work with various cultures and socio-economic statuses. She understands the community barriers that individuals and families continue to face in Tennessee.
Born in El Salvador, she immigrated to the United States at the age of 10. Knowing firsthand the challenges of adapting to a new culture, learning a new language, leaving family behind, and incorporating those experiences into her own family has heightened her awareness of these barriers and fueled her passion for helping young adults and families build a better future in the United States.
As the first in her family to attend college, she is committed to breaking stigmas and paving new paths for future generations. Her interest in the mental health field focuses on prevention, program development, and culturally sensitive therapy. For the last 5 ½ years, she has been in private practice, where she provides individual counseling, couples therapy, and family counseling. She has recently begun offering supervision for future colleagues in the process of obtaining their LPC/MHSP license in Tennessee.
Central Care Counseling Services LLC was created in response to the inability of other companies to support clients without insurance or legal status. She established a safe space to support the community.
Aleyda is a member of EMDRIA, TLPCA, Encuentro Latino, and an alumna of Tennessee State University and the College of St. Elizabeth. She continues to grow and maintain strong links to the community as much as possible.
